INNOVERSE 2025: Downstreaming Udayana University's Research and Innovation to the Community

Denpasar – Udayana University (Unud), through its Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), held the Innovation Universe (INNOVERSE) 2025 event at Living World Mall, Gatot Subroto, Denpasar on Friday, July 25, 2025.
The event was officially opened by the Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D, and was attended by the Vice Rectors, the Chair and Secretary of LPPM Unud, the Chair of LP3M Unud, Deans, the Heads of the Bali Province Offices of Cooperatives & SMEs and Industry & Trade, the Chair and members of HIPMI, collaborating partners, innovators, researchers, academics, students, and other invited guests.

In his report, Prof. I Nyoman Suarsana, Chair of LPPM Unud, stated that INNOVERSE 2025 adopts the inspiring theme: "Where Innovation Meets the World."
This theme is not merely a slogan, but a reflection of the spirit of the times we live in — where innovation is no longer confined to laboratories, but has become a global force uniting ideas, technologies, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. INNOVERSE is envisioned as an open platform for all creative and innovative academics to showcase their best work. It is a moment where ideas meet reality, where local solutions address global challenges, and where hidden potential is brought to light.

INNOVERSE, or "Semesta Inovasi" (The Universe of Innovation), is a space for researchers, innovators, academics, students, industry players, and government agencies to collaborate in the downstreaming of research and innovation for the benefit of society.

INNOVERSE 2025 features four integrated sub-events: InnoExpo: A product exhibition showcasing 24 innovators and 35 innovation-based research products from Udayana University's academic community. InnoTalk: A series of knowledge-sharing sessions and discussions. InnoPitch: A pitching arena for 12 innovators and 12 products seeking business partnerships. InnoNet: A networking forum connecting innovators with stakeholders.

“Let us use this moment as a space to connect, be inspired, and create real-impact innovation. Because here, ‘Where Innovation Meets the World,’ we all become part of the change,” said Prof. Suarsana.

During the event, HIPMI Bali Chairman Agung Bagus Pratiksa Linggih expressed the hopes of entrepreneurs and innovators for more collaborations, enabling innovation to meet its market, and markets to discover innovation.
He highlighted that Indonesia currently has around 7.29 million unemployed people, with university graduates making up a significant proportion. For this reason, he emphasized the importance of connecting universities with businesses so that academics and students can become job creators, not just job seekers.

Meanwhile, Rector of Udayana University, Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana, remarked that this day marked a proud moment for the university. What was presented was not merely an exhibition or a presentation, but the real manifestation of innovation, collaboration, and the boldness to bring research into the real world.

“Through InnoExpo, InnoTalk, InnoPitch, and InnoNet, we are witnessing an innovation ecosystem where academia, industry, and the community converge. We live in an era where the speed of innovation determines a nation's sustainability,” he stated.

He stressed that research must not stay in the laboratory, but must reach markets, villages, industries, and touch people’s lives.
Udayana University is committed to becoming a welcoming home for innovators and a solid bridge for the downstreaming of research.

Among the innovations exhibited and presented were:Digital technology based on Balinese script, Locally sourced skincare, and AI-based prosthetic robots.

These serve as proof that Indonesian youth can innovate without abandoning their cultural identity. Udayana University, he added, plays a strategic role: ensuring innovation is not only advanced technologically, but also locally contextual and socially relevant.

The Rector hopes that events like INNOVERSE will continue to grow, especially as Udayana University moves from a BLU (Public Service Agency) status toward becoming a BH (Legal Entity) University, requiring it to deliver innovations that genuinely serve the needs of society.
