Held at Udayana University, SCoMOA 2025 Presents Optical Experts from Various Countries
Jimbaran – Udayana University, through the Physics Study Program of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), is organizing The 2nd International Summer Course on Modern Optics and Its Applications (SCoMOA) 2025. This hybrid event is attended by 117 participants from various countries including Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Germany, France, Singapore, Italy, Yemen, Somalia, Nigeria, and the United States. A total of 68 participants are attending onsite, while the remaining 49 are joining online.
The event takes place over four days, from July 25 to 29, 2025. The opening ceremony was held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Auditorium of the Lecture Building, Udayana University, Jimbaran Campus. The opening was attended by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Udayana University, the Chair of the Indonesian Optical Society, the Head of the Indonesian Optic Society Council (Majelis InOS), the Vice Dean I of FMIPA Udayana, the Coordinator of the Physics Study Program of FMIPA Udayana, as well as students from Udayana University.
This event is made possible through collaboration between Udayana University, the Indonesian Optical Society (Himpunan Optika Indonesia), Pelita Harapan University, Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), and the University of Malaya.
The event was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gede Rai Maya Temaja, MP, on behalf of the Rector of Udayana University. In his speech, he expressed his appreciation for the hard work of the organizing committee and warmly welcomed both domestic and international participants and speakers.
“I hope this event serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas, research collaboration, and a vital foundation for the advancement of modern optics for the betterment of human life,” said Prof. Rai.
Meanwhile, the Chair of SCoMOA 2025, Prof. Henri P. Uranus, stated in his report that SCoMOA 2025 not only presents a summer course, but also includes a series of international symposiums under the banner of ISMOA 2025 (International Symposium on Modern Optics and Its Applications). Both activities aim to enrich knowledge in modern optics and bring together optical scientists from renowned institutions worldwide.
